Welcome

The Arthritis Research UK Tissue Engineering Centre is a unique collaboration between scientists and clinicians at Newcastle University, the University of Aberdeen, University of York, Keele University and Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital. We aim to identify treatments for early stage osteoarthritis that delays the onset of painful and debilitating joint damage. To achieve this goal we have put together an ambitious programme of research that seeks to understand how patients own cells either alone or in combination with a biomaterial scaffold could be harnessed to treat and repair early bone and cartilage defects.
